Teheran has no more pomegranates

Director : Massoud Bakhshi

Crazy, funny and ironic, this film takes us on a journey into the history of Tehran with Massoud Bakhshi’s film crew, faced with the impossibility of completing his initial project in his country. The history of Tehran from the beginning until today is explored in a subtle mixture of old and contemporary footage, caustic passages and complete love. In 1421 Asar-o-Lblab wrote “ Tehran is a village near the town of Roi, full of gardens and fruit trees. Its people live in underground holes like anthills. Various parts of the village wage permanent warfare against each other. Tehranis’ main pastimes are thieving and crime, despite the King claiming that they are all under his authority. They grow fine fruit, especially an excellent pomegranate found only in Tehran.”
