Paul Néaoutyine
President of the Northern Province

The Ânûû-rû Âboro Festival is the result of the meeting of two wills, the political will of the Northern Province, and the cultural will of its founders. That these two schools of thought should meet owes nothing to chance, but owes everything to the history of our country, to the struggle for freedom of our elders, to the yearning of our citizens to reclaim their image and their voice, altered and confiscated by colonisation.

The Ânûû-rû Âboro Festival calls on us to see and hear. To see and hear in a different way, and most of all to think.

If there is a political dimension to the documentary cinema offered by Ânûû-rû Âboro, it is entirely contained it its form, in this invitation extended to the spectator to no longer consume, but to think, to set oneself up as a thinking adult, and therefore to become an actor.

Cinema is made of light and shadows. So is our history. Their meeting was inevitable.
